ANCIENT ORDER OF HIBERNIANS

CAPE MAY COUNTY, DIVISION #2

ALL IRISH MARTYRS

FRIENDSHIP • UNITY • CHRISTIAN CHARITY

We are a Catholic Irish-American fraternal organization that promotes our faith through charity, friendship, and honoring our Irish heritage in the Upper Township community.

THE CELTIC CROSS: This symbol is deeply rooted in Irish heritage. It represents not just faith but also the enduring spirit of the Irish people. Its distinctive circle highlights the unity and connection between the earthly and the divine.

What is the...

Ancient Order of Hibernians?

Established in 1836, the Ancient Order of Hibernians is America's oldest Irish Catholic fraternal organization.

Born in the vibrant communities of New York City and the coal-mining regions of Pennsylvania, we are dedicated to promoting our faith, fostering friendship, and preserving Irish heritage.

Monthly Irish History Highlight

On March 17, 1766, the first recorded St. Patrick’s Day parade took place—not in Ireland, but in New York City, organized by Irish soldiers serving in the British Army. The tradition grew, spreading across Irish communities worldwide, long before Ireland itself held official parades. Today, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated globally, blending Irish heritage with local customs.
